PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF PELICAN:
Please be advised that construction and demolition (C&D) materials are not permitted in the city dumpsters or at the harbor. These materials cannot be safely burned and must not be placed with regular household trash. Sorting through these items by hand is unsafe and places an excessive burden on Public Works staff.
If you need to dispose of construction or demolition waste, you must schedule a pickup. To do so, please contact City Hall, call the City Shop at 907-735-2245 and leave a message (they are checked daily), or email adampool@pelicancity.org.
Continued improper disposal will force the City to consider substantially increasing trash collection rates to cover the costs of equipment damage and additional labor required for sorting.
Prohibited Items Include (but are not limited to):
Aerosol cans
Propane bottles or other pressurized containers
Construction and demolition debris
Biohazardous materials.
Please take a moment to inspect the condition of the dumpsters and understand that it is illegal for us to accept these items as regular waste. We have experienced multiple dangerous explosions in the burn box, and staff have been exposed to flammable liquids and flying debris.
Your cooperation is essentials for the safety of our workers and the continued operation of waste services in Pelican.
