• City Holiday: All city businesses will be closed on Monday, October 19th in observance of Alaska Day. Pelican Fuels will be closed, and all callouts will be subject to a $200.00 holiday callout fee. Regular hours resume Wednesday, October 21st. Garbage service will be rescheduled to Tuesday, October 20th.

• Property Taxes: Property taxes are due by October 15th, no later than 5:00 p.m. If your property taxes are not paid by the due date and become delinquent, a penalty of ten percent per year will be added from the date of delinquency until the taxes are paid.

• Snow Removal & Gentle Reminders: As we head into snow-clearing season, the City of Pelican would like to ask that boardwalk and harbor users keep the boardwalk, floats, and fingers clear of any construction materials or bulky items that impede emergency vehicle access or snow-clearing equipment. For the safety of the harbor and community members, please do not use the harbor walkways for your personal storage.

• Seasonal Sales Tax Update: Effective October 1, our seasonal sales tax rate will change from 6% to 4%. All applicable purchases made on or after October 1 will be taxed at the 4% rate.

• Gentle Reminders: Please Scoop the Poop! A friendly reminder to all our four-legged friends’ humans: please remember to pick up after your dogs when in the community - the playground, harbor, boardwalk, all our shared spaces. Bringing a bag and cleaning up promptly helps keep our community safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. Our Pelican Municipal Code states that off-leash dogs are prohibited in the Pelican Boat Harbor. We’re simply asking to make sure that your dogs are leashed and that you’re picking up after them. Thanks for doing your part and helping to keep our city pleasant!
