Lots available for firewood Monday, July 13th. The City has logs available for the community to harvest. The logs are stationed on the hill across and next to the blue bunkhouse. The City of Pelican is excited ot start a new On-Time-Payment Raffle to thank our customers for paying their utility bills on time! Beginning this July, every customer whose utility account is paid in full by the due date will automatically be entered into a monthly drawing to win a gift certificate to Pelican Fuels!
It’s our way of saying thank you for helping keep accounts current and supporting the services our community depends on.

Friday, July 3rd all city businesses will be closed (City Hall, Pelican Fuels, Pelican Public Library) in recognition of the July 4th holiday. Pelican Fuels callouts will be subject to a $200 holiday callout fee. Garbage service will be rescheduled to Thursday July 2nd.

The Pelican City Council approved Resolution 2026-10, adopting updated water and sewer utility rates effective July 1, 2026.
These rate adjustments help support the continued operation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of the city’s water and wastewater utility systems. Customers with questions regarding the updated rates or their utility account are encouraged to contact City Hall during regular business hours. Thank you for your continued support as we work to maintain reliable utility services for our community.
Property Tax Notices: Property tax statements will be sent out with the July 1st billing. Taxes are due by October 15th. Property owners who pay in full by October 15th will receive a 5% early payment discount.
The City of Pelican’s 2026 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is now available. This annual report provides important information about the quality fo your drinking water, including where your water comes from, monitoring results, and compliance with state and federal drinking water standards. Consumer Confidence Reports are required annually for public water systems under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Printed copies are available at City Hall, or you can view the report at anytime on the City’s website.
The Pelican Clinic has a new phone number: 907-623-2050. Please save this numbers for scheduling appointments and reaching the clinic. During this transition, the previous number will continue to route calls, but we encourage everyone to begin using the new number moving forward.

The deadline for submitting sealed bids on properties to City Hall is 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st, 2026. The sealed bid opening will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. 4th of July Festivities:
-Monday, June 29th: Allard Memorial, 5:30 p.m. @ Community Hall. Bring a dish and a story to share.
-Tuesday, June 30th: Dirty Bingo, 5:00 p.m. @ Community Hall. Bring a wrapped gift. All proceeds go to kids’ games prizes. Must be 19 play.
-Wednesday, July 1st: Cribbage tournament, 5:00 p.m. @ Community Hall. Doors open at 4p.m.
-Saturday, July 4th: 4th of July parade. Lineup @ 9:30. Parade starts @ 10 a.m. and ends at school yard. Potluck, foot races, ducky race and water games to follow.
Help protect Pelican’s Sewer System: The City of Pelican asks all residents and businesses to help protect our sewer system by being mindful of what goes down toilets, sinks,a nd drainks.
Please DO NOT flush or pour:
-Fats, oils, greases (FOG)
-”Flushable” wipes (they do not break down like toilet paper)
-Baby wipes / disinfecting wipes
-Feminine hygiene products
-Paper towels, tissues, or napkins
-Cotton swabs, cotton balls, or dental floss
-Diapers or other sanitary products
The only things that should be flushed are: human waste, toilet paper
For kitchen drains:
-Wipe grease from pans into the trash before washing
-Allow cooking grease to cool, place it in a sealed container, and dispose of it with your household garbage.
-Use sink strainers to catch food scraps.
Improper disposal can clog sewer lines, damage pumps, cause sewer backups,a nd lead to expensive repairs that ultimately affect the entire community. Thank you for doing yoru part to help keep Pelican’s wastewater system operating safely and efficiently.

Hello Pelican! The Pelican Volunteer Fire Department is having two MANDATORY meetings this month. Please note: the metings will be on the same topics, and you are only required to attend one meeting. Two dates/times are being offered to ensure everyone can pick the best time/date that works for them.
First Meeting: 5:00 p.m. on June 12th, at the Fire Hall
Second Meeting: 7:00 p.m. on June 20th, at the Fire Hall
Please contact me directly to confirm you’ll be able to make it. Everyone who is a volunteer or would like to become a volunteer needs to come to one of these meetings to discuss department changes. This meeting should take an hour or less.
Please spread the word so everyone knows about the meeting and can come. This is also open to the public for anyone who wants to come and hear about the fire department.

City Council Meetings, Board of Equalization
-Regular City Council meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 10th at 6:00 p.m.
-Board of Equalization Meeting: Tuesday, June 30th at 5:30 p.m. The City Council will sit as a Board of Equalization (BOE) to pass thereon, to hear objections from property owners, and to make necessary adjustments on assessments. If you feel that your property has been assessed unfairly or incorrectly, be sure to see the assessor immediately. Appeals must be filed in writing within twenty-one (21) days of mailing the assessment notice. After the final meeting of the BOE, not further adjustments can be made.
-Special City Council Meeting to follow immediately after the conclusion of the BOE.
Commercial Garbage Service & Other Garbage Updates
-Beginning Wednesday, June 3rd, an additional garbage pickup service will be available for commercial businessess. This service is intended to help businesses manage increased summer-season waste.
-The City of Pelican respectfully asks that oversized vehicle use be kept to a minimum on the boardwalk to help with the flow of traffic and extend the life of the boardwalk planks. Additionally, we are asking to keep traffic on teh afternoons of garbage pickup days to a minimum. Finally, please note that the local speed limit is 12 m.p.h.
-Please be mindful of what you discard. Please do not discard animal carcasses at the trash cage. All other trash should be disposed of in a garbage bag or appropriate container so that it is not picked up by the wind and distributed through the community.
-If you have additional items to dispose of, coordinate with City Hall in advance. Additional fees may apply for the diposal of freezers, refrigerators, large items, and other special waste. Please make arrangements with City Hall prior to disposal to ensure proper handling and scheduling.
Juneteenth Holiday Closure - All City offices will be closed Friday, June 19th in observance of the holiday. Garbage service rescheduled to Thursday the 18th. Pelican Fuels callouts subject to a $200 holiday callout fee.
Fire Safety Training - Learn how to better fireproof your home and use a fire extinguisher. Each household will receive two 5-pound fire extinguishers and one carbon monoxide detector. June 11th from 6pm - 8pm at the Community Hall. Register online: www.tinyurl.com/THFireSafety
Sales Tax/Transient Accommodation Tax Reminder: This is a friendly reminder that your Quarter 2 2026 sales tax and/or transient accommodation tax forms and applicable payments are due by Thursday, July 31st, 2026. To ensure timely compliance, please complete and submit the required forms by the deadline to the City of Pelican. Please note, these forms are required even if you have no taxable sales, purchases, or credits to report.
