Fire safety begins with prevention. Follow these essential tips to keep your home and workplace safe:
Install and Maintain Smoke Alarms - Test alarms monthly and replace batteries annually.
Create an Escape Plan - Have a fire escape plan with at least two exits and practice it regularly.
Keep Flammable Materials Away from Heat Sources - Store items like paper, cloth, and chemicals safely.
Never Leave Cooking Unattended - Stay in the kitchen while using the stove.
Use Electrical Appliances Safely - Avoid overloading outlets and replace damaged cords.
Properly Store and Dispose of Flammable Liquids - Follow manufacturer guidelines for safe storage.
Teach Children About Fire Safety - Educate kids on the dangers of fire and how to react in emergencies.
Know How to Use a Fire Extinguisher - Learn the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) for proper usage.
Emergency Preparedness
Being prepared can save lives. Here are some key steps to ensure your family and workplace are ready:
Have an Emergency Kit - Include water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, batteries, and a first-aid kit.
Know Your Exits - Identify emergency exits at home, work, and public spaces.
Practice Fire Drills - Regular practice ensures a calm and quick response in an emergency.
Stay Informed During Emergencies - Sign up for local alerts and emergency notifications.
Designate a Meeting Place - Choose a safe location outside your home where family members can meet after evacuating.
