June 1 Billing Notices:
Property Tax Notices:
Property tax statements will be sent out with July 1st billing. Taxes are due by October 15th. Property owners who pay in full by October 15th will receive a 5% early payment discount.
Pet Owner Reminders:
Dogs must be leashed unless in designated off-leash areas. Please be courteous and pick up after your pets. Bags are available at stations around town.
PCE Credit Update:
As of July 1, the Power Cost Equalization (PCE) credit will no longer be applied to your utility bills. If you have any questions about your rates or billing, please contact the City Clerk.
Vehicle Traffic & Parking:
On garbage collection days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), please keep vehicle traffic to a minimum to allow clear access for city vehicles. Additionally, avoid long-term parking outside the grocery store or post office, and minimize traffic beyond the bunkhouse and fuel dock area. This is for safety reasons. There is high forklift traffic, inadequate parking, inadequate space for turning around. The forklifts and the garbage truck need unobstructed access to this area, thank you.
Updated Water Rates:
New water and wastewater rates go into effect July 1 and will first appear on August 1 billing. Updated rates are as follows:
Residential Water: $39.50
Residential Sewer: $23.50
Commercial Water; $60.00
Commercial Sewer: $60.00
Blue Bunkhouse Survey:
We’re gathering community input about the future of the “Blue Bunkhouse.” Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. The link available on the City’s website, Facebook page, or at City Hall. Results will be gathered until July 8th at 3:30 p.m.
4th of July Festivities & Pre 4th Activities:
Sunday, June 29th at 5:00 p.m. - Dirty Bingo @ Community Hall. Bring a wrapped gift - must be 19 or older to play - Proceeds go to kids’ 4th of July races.
Monday, June 30th at 5:30 p.m. - Cribbage Tournament @ Community Hall - $10.00 per person - double elimination.
Thursday, July 3rd at 5:30 p.m. - Gathering to Honor Terry Wirta @ Community Hall. Share your favorite Terry story! Potluck to follow. Bring a dish. Community Dance afterward.
Friday, July 4th, all city businesses will be closed in observance of Independence Day. Be sure to top off your tank on July 3rd - holiday call-out fees apply on the 4th!
Garbage service will be Thursday, July 3rd instead of Friday.

Regular City Council Meeting:
The upcoming regular city council meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 9th at 6:00 p.m.

Waste Disposal Reminder:
As a reminder to all residents, please follow these guidelines when disposing of household waste to help keep our burn unit safe and functioning properly:
Do not burn:
Metal, wire, or cans
Batteries / electronics
Glass
Paint, fuel, oil
Hazardous materials
Construction debris
Large items like furniture or appliances
Sharps, Hazardous Items (Broken glass, knives, needles) must not go in regular garbage due to risk of injury to workers and damage to equipment. Please place broken glass and sharp metals in a sturdy, puncture proof container (e.g., coffee can, plastic bottle), clearly labeled “SHARPS” or “GLASS”.
Never place loose sharps or needles in the trash. If you’re unsure whether something is safe to burn, please call City Hall before disposing. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and safe community.
No Bicycles or Motorized Vehicles on Municipal Floats
For the safety of all harbor users, riding bicycles or operating motorized vehicles on municipal floats or within the Pelican City Harbor is prohibited.
· Exceptions apply only to public safety, medical emergencies, or businesses with authorization from the City of Pelican.
